Cascade Risk helps housing providers, managing agents and building safety teams navigate the Building Safety Act efficiently, accurately, and without the guesswork. We combine deep regulatory expertise with purpose-built technology, so compliance becomes manageable and safety becomes real.
My Story
My career began in the British Army, where I trained as a helicopter pilot before becoming a flying instructor and later working as an aviation regulator. Those roles taught me how complex systems succeed, how they fail and most importantly, how good risk management can help to minimise or even prevent accidents before they happen.
After leaving the military, I spent years helping organisations around the world improve safety management. I've worked with the International Civil Aviation Organisation, advised organisations across aviation, healthcare, maritime and other high-hazard industries and seen first-hand how structured thinking, clear evidence and good decision-making lead to safer outcomes.
When the Building Safety Act was introduced, it became clear that the housing sector needed more than another document management system. Building safety needed to be treated as a live risk system, much as compliance is across the sector. Accountable people need to understand and manage risk throughout the life of a building.
That's why I founded Cascade Risk Management.
Cascade combines proven system safety principles with purpose-built technology to help organisations create, manage and continuously improve building safety. Rather than producing static reports every few years, our platform helps teams understand their risks, manage actions, demonstrate assurance and maintain compliance as buildings evolve.
Today, alongside leading Cascade, I continue to contribute to the wider building safety profession through industry guidance, training and speaking at conferences. I chair the Institution of Structural Engineers' Risk Panel, contribute to industry guidance on structural risk and work with organisations that want to raise standards across the sector.
